Taiping War cemetery tombstones vandalised
5 January 2017
Several tombstones in the
historical Taiping War cemetery were found vandalised and broken, said Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Harrith Kam Abdullah
ACP Harrith added that the police
were alerted to the vandalism after they received a report from a garderner at the cemetery on Jan 3 that eight
tombstones had been damaged.
He said no undergarments or
condoms were found in the cemetery which had, in the past, been trespassed by people looking for a place to engage
in sexual activities.
ACP Harrith urged people with
information on the intrusion to assist the police with the investigation into the trespass on burial grounds and
refrain from spreading rumours.
The cemetery is where the remains
of World War Two soldiers are buried. It is open to public from 8am to 5pm.
