Taiping to Lumut road upgrade
Systematic And User Friendly Public Transportation System For Perak
The Perak state government is striving to set up a systematic and user
friendly public transportation system for the state, said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul
He said for that the state government was prepared to cooperate with bus companies
and this included approving areas for bus stations at a moderate rate.
"The state government has decided on an efficient public transportation system...to
develop an efficient inner-city and inter-city network for the future," Zambry told reporters after officiating the
start-of-work for construction of the Ipoh City Integrated Bus Terminal and the Meru Raya Business and Trading
Centre here on Monday.
He said the state government was aware of the need for a public transportation
system, especially in low-density areas that were unprofitable, and as such the state government was willing to
give a subsidy for purchase of buses.
Meanwhile, Zambry said the Works Ministry had approved a project valued at RM680
million to upgrade a road that linked Lumut and Taiping.
He said the about 60km road from Segari, Lumut to Changkat Jering, Taiping will be
upgraded to be a four-lane road.
