Taiping, Kota Bharu bestowed international awards

Taiping in Perak and Kelantan’s capital, Kota Bahru, received international recognition at the 9th Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities (TPO) General Assembly held in Busan, Korea recently.

Busan mayor, Oh Keo-don, presented The Best of Public Relations Campaign 2019 award to Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) president Borhan Abdul Halim, while Kota Bahru Municipal Council (MPKB) public affairs and information director Azman Mohd Daham received The Best Destination Manager 2019 award on behalf of the local council.

A statement from Tourism Malaysia further added that Borhan has been elected co-president of TPO 2020-2021.

More than 700 people — including mayors, tourism officials, academicians, and arts and cultural promoters from 85 cities and 15 countries — attended this year’s TPO event, which was held from Sept 25 – 28 and themed “Common Prosperity in Tourism Through Open Partnership”.

TPO was created for the promotion of tourism in Asia Pacific cities. — Bernama
