Jalan Berek located in the heart of the city is listed as one of the special locations to Taiping to visit in the Year of Visiting Perak 2024.

Therefore, the effort to preserve Jalan Berek is an important step of the Taiping Municipal Council to encourage the people in this area to maintain cleanliness and cheerfulness.

MPT Chairman, Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir said, this step is to encourage traders in this area to maintain the cleanliness and cheerfulness of the premises as an attraction.

According to him, this is to encourage the owners and traders of other streets in the city of Taiping to participate in efforts in the same direction.

In celebrating 2024 which is the Year of Visiting Perak and 150 Years of Taiping Town, we would like to emphasize that Jalan Berek is one of the most special locations in Taiping town.

“Here, there are some privileges that cannot be found in other streets in this city.

“We are confident that Jalan Berek will continue to be a symbol of the beauty, cheerfulness, and heritage of the city of Taiping that we love,” he said while inaugurating the @Jalan Berek Cultural Trail here.

Also present were Member of Parliament for Taiping, Wong Kah Woh and Member of the Pokok Assam State Assembly, Ong Seng Guan.

Various activities are organized involving the participation of all levels of society.

Among them are a classic bicycle exhibition, coloring competition, traditional and traditional clothing, aerobics, singing and dancing performances of various races, exhibitions and sales of small and medium-sized industrial craft products.

Khairul Amir added, since the organization of the Jalan Berek Conservation Program was introduced in 2021, it has opened up new opportunities for traders in this area.

He said again, one of the most significant things is the increase in tourist arrivals.

“With the emphasis on the promotion of Jalan Berek as a focus for tourists, traders here can also increase their income.

“It is hoped that the organization of this program will be able to add value to the Perak tourism industry in general and Taiping in particular and encourage the local community to support MPT’s efforts to preserve Jalan Berek as an important cultural destination in Taiping,”
